Deer Mouse


  • Adult deer mice are reddish brown with a white underbelly and are 2-3/4 to 4 inches in length
  • Female mice can have an average litter size of 3-5 and have 2-4 litters per year
  • Mice can enter any building through an opening that is at least 1/4 inches or bigger
  • Mice can transmit disease by contaminating food with their droppings and urine
  • Deer mice are the primary carriers of the Hanta Virus which can cause Hanta Virus Pulmonary Syndrome
  • These mice can feed on a variety of items, such as dog food, bird seeds, insects, nuts, berries, and dead mice

Norway Rat


  • Adult Norway Rats have course shaggy brown with scattered black hairs and a gray to yellowish-white underbelly
  • Adult can range from 7 to 9 1/2 inches in length
  • Female rats can have a litter size of 7-8 and have 3-6 litters per year
  • Rats can enter any building with an opening of 1/2 inch or bigger
  • They can transmit diseases, such as Murine Typhus through their fleas, droppings, and urine
  • Norway Rats will eat practically anything but prefer meat, fish and cereal
